Talkin' Broadway on Broadway Review: "Dog Day Afternoon" 3/30/26

by Howard Miller

"We come in peace!" Comforting to know when the person who declaims these words is holding you at gunpoint during a poorly planned and even more poorly executed bank robbery that kickstarts what turns out to be one of the most engaging and entertaining plays to hit Broadway in a very long time. That would be playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis' Dog Day Afternoon, which opened tonight at the August Wilson Theatre.
