The good news"actually the very splendid news"is that The York Theatre Company, which has been spending decades developing new musicals, has granted a very handsome world premiere production to Stephen Weiner (music) and Peter Kellogg's (book and lyrics) adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' often-dramatized 1840s revenge tale, The Count of Monte Cristo, monikered with a shorted, marquee-friendly title, Monte Cristo.
