Douglas Turner Ward, pioneer in Black theater, dies at 90 by Nathaniel G. Nesmith / The New York Times

Mr. Ward, an actor, playwright and director who co-founded a New York theater group that supported Black writers and actors at a time when there were few opportunities for them, died Saturday. He was 90.
